The Bundesliga resumes on Friday 18th August. We’ve got all of the key info, as well as a refresher as to where things stand, some tasty transfer tidbits and more.

Recap

Borussia Dortmund suffered heartbreak on the final day of the last campaign. Needing to win their game to clinch the title, they only managed a 2-2 draw against Mainz. That means Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga champions for the 11th consecutive year.

BIGGEST transfers

Bayern have recruited efficiently with free transfer moves for Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig and Raphaël Guerreiro from Dortmund. BVB have brought in exciting 22-year-old playmaker Felix Nmecha from Wolfsburg for €30m but that’s severely offset by the loss of Jude Bellingham.

Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai's sales have enabled RB Leipzig to spend BIG, with headline signing Loïs Openda arriving from Lens for €43m. He scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season. Arsenal cult favourite Granit Xhaka has joined Bayer Leverkusen in a €25m deal.

Wildcard players to watch

French attacker Randal Kolo Muani took the Bundesliga by storm last season, bagging 15 goals and 11 assists. If he stays in Germany, he’ll have his eyes on that top scorer award.

Promoted teams

Heidenheim will play in the Bundesliga for the first time in their history after winning the 2. Bundesliga last season. They’re joined in the top-flight by Darmstadt.

Dark horses

Union Berlin punched well above their weight last season, finishing in the Champions League places on a tight budget. Surinamese attacker Sheraldo Becker scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists in the Bundesliga, spearheading their third successive top-7 finish.

First weekend highlights

Bayer Leverkusen welcome RB Leipzig on Saturday 18th in an attractive looking contest between 2 of last season’s top 6.

Latest news and rumours

RB Leipzig are rumoured to be plotting a move for exciting youngster Xavi Simons. He’s returning to PSG from PSV, but may be allowed to leave on loan until a starting spot opens up.
