Serie A resumes on Saturday 19th August. We’ve got all of the key info, as well as a refresher as to where things stand, some tasty transfer tidbits and more.

Recap

Napoli collected their first scudetto crown in 33 years with the good times returning to the newly-rebranded Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was arguably their standout player, scoring 26 goals to become Serie A’s Capocannoniere.

BIGGEST transfers

Christian Pulisic arrives at AC Milan from Chelsea for €20m looking to kick start his career after finding himself out in the cold at Stamford Bridge, being followed by teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek for €16m. Timothy Weah has joined Juventus from Lille for a reported €11.3m, while Inter (Marcus Thuram) and Roma (Houssem Aouar and Evan Ndicka) have made some eye-catching free transfers.

Champions Napoli haven’t added anyone new yet (Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone’s loan moves have become permanent) and lost their scudetto-winning coach Luciano Spalletti, who has been replaced by Rudi Garcia.

Wildcard players to watch

Pulisic’s new teammate Rafael Leão is at the top of most shopping lists around Europe, but the Rossoneri have managed to keep him for now. That’s good news for them and Italian top-flight football, with the Portuguese attacker set to wreak more havoc down the left-hand side of pitches around the country.

Promoted teams

Genoa and Cagliari are back in the BIG time after relegation from the top-flight in 2021/22. Frosinone’s last taste of Serie A was in 2018/19, so they’ll be delighted to be back too, though the loss of coach Fabio Grosso was a blow.

Dark horses

Many pundits expected Monza to suffer relegation last term. Instead, they finished 11th, some 21 points clear of the drop zone. They’ll be looking to build on an impressive campaign and shoot further up the table, and have picked up Roberto Gagliardini after his departure from Inter.

First weekend highlights

Monza travel to last season’s Champions League runners-up Inter on Saturday 19th August and it’s a BIG test to see if they can pick up where they left off.

Latest news and rumours

The latest chapter in Inter and Juventus’ historic rivalry is playing out off the field with Romelu Lukaku appearing willing to risk the wrath of Inter’s ultras for a second time by favouring a move to Turin instead of making his return to San Siro permanent.

That transfer may depend on the Old Lady selling Dušan Vlahović, with PSG heavily linked. A fresh twist to the saga has seen Juan Cuadrado, who Lukaku fought with when Inter and Juventus met in April, reportedly agree to join the Nerazzurri following his Juve departure.
